When
aquarists decide to keep clownfish in their aquaria, then very
important factors to take into every day consideration are the ideal water parameters for clownfish to live happy and healthy.
They are :
Temperature : 76° – 82° Fahrenheit, i.e. 25° - 28° C.
Water salinity : 1.026
Specific gravity : 1.020 -1.025
Ph Value : 8.0 – 8.4
Alkalinity : 8 - 12° dKH
Phosphate (PO4) : < 0.2 ppm
Nitrogen (NO3) : < 1.0 ppm
Calcium : 350 - 450 ppm
Magnesium : 1250 - 1350 ppm
Nitrates : less than 20ppm
Nitrite (NO2) : Undetectable (it must be at zero)
Ammonia (NH3) : Undetectable (it must be at zero)
Nitrate-Iodine : 0.06 – 0.10 ppm
Strontium : 4 – 12 ppm
Water has to be kept clean and well circulated.
A Very Good Aquarium Guide...
WATER QUALITY CHECK
Water temperature should be checked daily.
Then, water quality has to be tested at least once a week.
Salinity should remain within the range 1.020 -1.026 and can be tested using a
a refractometer or hydrometer.
Some fresh water must be added in salinity is over above values.
Low salinity: add a slightly higher salinity of water during the water change.
Do not ever add dry salt directly to your aquarium.
High salinity: add some fresh water.
Nitrates and Ammonia: they need to be checked by means of a test kit.
