Clown Fish Reproduction

When spawning is coming, then the abdomen of female clownfish is swollen of eggs.

She swims and deposit the eggs in lines, on a flat rock or a coral, and the male follows her and fertilizes them.

Each clutch can be formed by 400- 500 eggs.

Eggs Day 1-3
The eggs begin life as a light orange colour. Then they turn into dark brown at about day 3.

Eggs Day 4
Eggs have a dark pigment : it is the eye.

Eggs Day 5-6
Around day 5, eggs get a slivery colour.

As the female ages, her clutches will increase.

A pair is laying eggs along the base of the host anemone, on a flat and protected surface, so that they can be well defended by predators.
